At this point, you've already decided to Outsource printing & mailing to 1099 Pro or to print in-house based on the 1099 Pro software you selected. If you do print yourself be sure that you have an adequate envelopes on hand that satisfy the following requirements:
- Envelopes must fit the printed-out forms.
- Envelopes must be security type (to prevent legibility of contents).
- Envelopes must bear the mark "Important Tax Return Document Enclosed".
One of the popular methods of printing is to select 'blank stock' (i.e. plain paper or 5145 laser Perf) and to select the "Combined Print Option" which prints one 1098 recipient per page. Each page will have one 1098 Form on the top third of the page, IRS instructions for the middle of the page and an extra copy of the form at the bottom of the page. If you use the blank perf paper supplied by 1099 Pro you'll find folding along the perforation easier, the result more professional and your customer will have an easier time tearing off a copy to give to their accountant. Our experience has shown sending two forms to your customers reduces the number of calls that you will receive for reprints thereby saving you time and money.
